Instructional Design

We carefully consider how students learn and what materials and methods will most effectively help individuals achieve their academic and career goals.  Using this knowledge we create academic and training courses that engage and help organaizations make the most of their resources.
Diverse Instructional Projects

Examples of my work

Online Courses

Over the multiple years of developing e-learning for companies, I have worked with many different types of SME to create content developed in both Articulate RISE and Articulate Storyline.  Here, you'll find a curated selection of projects showcasing my passion for creating engaging and effective learning experiences. Each sample demonstrates my expertise in various instructional design methodologies, my ability to cater to diverse audiences, and my commitment to fostering meaningful learning outcomes. Feel free to explore the different projects and discover how I translate complex information into clear, concise, and interactive instructional materials.

Example #1
This is the prototype I created for a company introducing a new initiative.  The source files included policies and a technical pdf.  I was tasked with taking that information and creating an online course for all employees of this global company.  This prototype was then developed on Articulate Storyline.

Example #2
Example #3

LeSaffre wanted their HR team to consider culture fit and cognitive bias within their hiring practices.  The source file was a company police and a paper on cognitive bias. These two examples were then developed in Articulate Storyline.

Example #4

Cargotec needed to reemphasize the importance of their code of conduct policy.  I worked with their SME to create scenarios that touched on the most important parts of their policy as well as engaging interactions and assessments for the learner to apply their learning.

Facilitated Training
As an instructional coach and principal, I have had many opportunities to create and facilitate professional development workshops, drawing on principles of adult learning theory to ensure these experiences are relevant, engaging, and impactful for educators. By understanding the unique needs and motivations of adult learners, I have been able to design workshops that prioritize active participation, collaboration, and the application of new knowledge to real-world scenarios.

Classroom Reset
I created and facilitated this teacher training to support the transition back from winter break.  It was an opportunity for staff to revist the classroom management strategies we set at the beginning of the year.

This training was created to support teachers in delivering instruction remotely during the pandemic.  I built it to help illustrate how to engage via zoom.  It was facilitated remotely.

Hexagonal Thinking ERD
This was a training I created and facilitated for my teaching staff.  The idea was to use a strategy to engage the staff in using hexagonal thinking so that they then could find ways to utilize it in their classroom.
Blended Learning
As a volunteer for Safe Kids World Wide, I developed and facilitated a virtual workshop focused on helmet and bike safety for elementary students across Colorado.  This was focused on at risk youth in the Denver area.  The workshop balanced virtual instruction with the in person classroom environment.

Bike Safety Workshop

This is just one recent example of my work with blended learning.  Other experiences I have developed for students in the blended learning model include: gamefication, micro learning modules, LMS platforms to facilitate interactive learning and personalized/adaptive assessments.
